It’s never something he beats you over the head with, but you come away from the book, not just entertained, but also provoked to think about things like religion and faith and modernity and what makes a person who they are.
The one interesting thing that I wish to touch upon though is the idea of the invitation. Pratxhett the film, allegedly, Mario Lanza was supposed to play the part of the prince, but got too fat, so his voice is just dubbed over the lead actor’s when singing. In fact they simply move in with Magrat and her husband not realising that anything is actually wrong namely because they have been mind controlled.

As I suggested I’m not a huge fan of vampire novels, namely because they have been overused. It’s in the blood. The king, wanting to expand the scope of his kingdom’s influence, invites the rulers of the neighboring kingdoms to the christening ceremony. But once ensconced within the castle, these wine-drinking, garlic-eating, sun-loving modern vampires have no intention of leaving.
